Yao Jianquan
As a famous expert in laser and non-linear optics, he was born in
Shanghai in January, 1939.He was admitted by precision instrument
department of Tianjin University in 1957, and he obtained his master’s
degree in Tianjin University in 1965 and stayed and worked as a teacher.
He was elected as fellow of CAS in 1997.He is now the director of
Chinese Optical Society, deputy director of Chinese Optical Society
laser committee, and vice president of Tianjin laser society, deputy
director of institute of modern optical instrument of Tianjin
University, and he is, at the same time, the member of Optical Society
of America and SPIE, and senior guest researcher of laser center,
University of South California, etc. He is the member of the seventh,
eighth and ninth national committee of CPPCC, the eighth central
committee member of China Association for Promoting Democracy, the ninth
and tenth central standing committee member of China Association for
Promoting Democracy, and the tenth deputy chairman of CPPCC of Tianjin
City, and the tenth chairman of Tianjin Committee of China Association
for Promoting Democracy.
Main academic achievements: He has been engaged in research on
frequency conversion technology of laser and non-linear optics for
years, and developed theory of high power multiple-frequency laser. His
refined calculation theory in the optimum phase matching of biaxial
crystal is called “Yao-technology”, “Yao-method” and widely used by the
international academic circles. In the field of new layer and its
application technology, he has successfully developed solid-state laser
with high efficiency, tunable laser and laser in a series of high
efficient multiple frequency, which have all achieved the advanced
international level. He has published more than 350 dissertations over
the years, and over 120 on international conference and foreign
publications, becoming the well-know Chinese and foreign laser and
non-linear optics expert. He has successively obtained the second prize
for national innovation, second prize for Progress in Science and
Technology in State Education Commission on four occasions, special
award of CAS, the first prize for Progress in Science and Technology of
the army, gold award of 36th Eureka international fair innovation, and personally obtained excellence on the top honor award “Level 1 Knight Medal” etc.
